Testing was the first thing AI took
Two companies here attack the same bottleneck from different ends. Sapient.ai writes the unit tests, across Java, Scala, Kotlin and Apex. Launchable does not write any tests at all - it uses machine learning to work out which of the existing ones actually need to run, which shortens the wait rather than the suite.
Localisation, done properly
Lingo.dev put 4.2 million dollars into applied AI research for one problem, and the framing is the interesting part: translating software is a code comprehension problem, not a string translation problem. That is what makes 83 languages plausible rather than 8.
The plumbing nobody wants to build
D7 Networks covers SMS, WhatsApp, Viber, number lookup and OTP verification through one API. Voximplant does the same for voice. ScraperAPI handles the proxies, browsers and CAPTCHAs that stand between a developer and a page's HTML, and IPRoyal supplies the proxy layer beneath work like that.
None of these are exciting. All of them exist because building the same thing in-house takes a quarter.
Building without engineers
Momen is the most ambitious of the no-code entries, covering backend logic rather than only interfaces. 10Web automates WordPress for agencies running many sites, and FlowFuse brings Node-RED - long a favourite in industrial automation - into enterprise settings with AI integration on top.
The awkward problems
Exalate works on something most integration vendors avoid: syncing issue trackers across organisational boundaries, where neither side controls the other's system. It has done it bootstrapped, with more than 60 people across seven countries.
Ellipsis Drive picks a similarly unfashionable problem - making satellite, drone and thermal imagery interoperable enough to share at all.
