What Zenode AI does
Zenode is an AI-driven search engine for the electronic components that power everything from your electric toothbrush to your phone to your television.
The Current Landscape
In today’s electronic design world, engineers are tasked with making decisions that underpin purchases worth millions of dollars, yet the tools available to aid in these decisions haven’t changed since the 2000s. Distributors like Digi-Key, Octopart, and Mouser offer competing online catalogs with millions of parts but only limited parametric filters, forcing users to individually read dozens of complex datasheets before selecting each part for their design.
While newer AI-powered tools like SnapMagic, CircuitMind, and Flux.AI also use LLMs to read datasheets, they don’t offer users insight into the actual component selection, instead focusing on the downstream design process.
Company Birth Story
Founded by two electrical engineers with over 250 PCB designs under their belts, Zenode emerged from the founders' frustration with the time it takes to develop hardware. After teaching themselves AI programming, they built the underlying LLM to reading datasheets and are working on applying it to the rest of the tedious, repetitive tasks that make developing electronics so expensive and time consuming.
The Solution
Zenode sets itself apart by leveraging a large language model (LLM) trained specifically to tear apart tens of millions of complex datasheets, which are the engineering instruction manuals made for every component. That information is then accessible for retrieval by users via a natural language search, saving hours of reading for every component in the design.
The company believes that making hardware development faster, more accurate, and less costly, starts with the foundational task of finding the right components, from which all the downstream design difficulties flow.
Zenode launched in August, but has already attracted hundreds engineers looking for a better solution to component selection.
A Founder Quote
“There’s a lot of hype in AI right now, but it really does have tremendous promise. We see Zenode as the engineers interface with an AI assistant that can read 1000x faster than any human, but lacks the ability to make critical decisions” Said Brandon Bourn, the CEO and cofounder
