What is NovaKid


Novakid is an online EdTech platform for young English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL)-learners that provides a fun, engaging and effective learning experience. Its mission is to revolutionize English learning for kids ages 4-12 around the globe through full language immersion, personalized teaching approach with certified teachers and advantages of an artificial intelligence (AI)- and virtual reality (VR)-based digital platform.


Incorporated in the U.S., it has students in more than 40 countries, focusing on Europe and MENA, with a significant customer base in Poland, Spain, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Arab countries and Russia. NovaKid was named one of 50 Emerging EdTech Companies to Watch in 2021 by The Org.


Why was NovaKid established?


The pandemic has revealed the unarguable advantages of digital learning such as convenience, flexibility and freedom to acquire knowledge at one's own pace. The reliance on online Edtech platforms has increased, boosting the industry growth and securing the demand on e-learning in the long-term perspective. Digital language courses and platforms became the hope for more than 1.7 billion ESL learners to become confident, fluent speakers and writers even with the schools being closed and other COVID-caused circumstances. As a result, unlimited remote career opportunities have also opened to the language teachers.


In 2021, the global EdTech market reached $268 billion, and is forecasted to grow up to $404 billion by 2025. Both investors and analysts agree that the dynamic growth of EdTech is a long-term trend. The language learning segment accounts for 21% of the global EdTech market and is revealing significant growth potential.


Novakid founders anticipated trends long before the current EdTech boom from their own experience. Back in 2017, when Max Azarov was unsuccessfully trying to find a qualified native-speaking teacher for his son, he saw a business opportunity in the lack of funny, engaging and convenient platforms for remote children's studies.


Together with his son's English teacher Amy Krolevetskaya and a former colleague from the IT sphere Dmitry Malin, Max decided to launch the first version of an online junior school. It all started with an MVP that a decentralized team of engineers has developed in 3 months in Krakow (Poland) and Nizhniy Novgorod (Russia).


NovaKid's growth


The first customers were the children of Novakid's employees, and now the company has served more than 380K students with 3M online classes. In 2021 its active client base growth rate reached nearly 700% YoY, with monthly growth as high as 14.8%, and the customer satisfaction rate on the platform is 4.7 out of 5, according to TrustPilot Score.


Since 2017 the online school has raised $41.5 million in total funding and it has expanded in more than 40 countries.




Customer service


The employees of Novakid are creative innovators, often bringing bright ideas to the table. For example, once they decided to introduce a task compiled with the “The Hangman” game principles into an interactive lesson program. It was funny, but when some parents shared their concerns about the hanging scene, the team immediately replaced it with another character from the well-known game "Hungry Caterpillar", which eats apples.

Max Azarov believes that a world where children use English as a common tongue for discussions and ideas exchange will be more peaceful and civilized. In April 2021, being inspired by this idea, the company launched #KidsTalkFuture digital campaign, inviting kids from different countries to talk about the way they see a happy future for our planet and to build connections even being far away from each other.
